Oil, Pastel & Watercolor Paintings
In The West
I split my artistic life between the high chaparral of northern New Mexico and the lush, deep green vegetation of Vermont. My studio in Arroyo Seco, New Mexico is tucked up against the towering Sangre de Cristo range near Taos. This landscape has been the inspiration for artists, writers and musicians. The brilliant sunlight against the earth tones washes color to subtle pastels streaked with deep veins of purple and magenta. My art reaches out past the tangles of purple green sage along hidden paths and walks to distant mountains. A wandering dog at a fence gate, a human figure before a blazing kiva, a break in the granite canyon wall, a woman in the lair of her animals each mark the juxtaposition between fantasy and reality….magical reality.
